Are you thinking about installing columns in your home or using them in your building project? If you would like columns with a little different appearance, look at tapered columns.
There are two major types of tapered columns, square and round. Both start larger at the bottom and are thinner at the top. This is a visually appealing effect, giving a graceful but solid appearance to columns.
Tapered columns are made from several different materials, including wood, fiberglass, urethane, and composites. Tapered columns made from wood are the traditional favorite, especially if you want to stain your columns. Wood products have a texture and glow to them that are hard to match. Tapered columns made from manufactured materials such as fiberglass, urethane, or composites are typically virtually maintenance free. They will not chip, crack, or rot and will last for many, many years.
When you are planning on installing columns in your home or building project, consider tapered columns. They will contribute to the visual appeal of your building.
